Live Show & Preparing for Progression Journal

Coming in today we opted to change the live show from a game show, to a REACT style video, popularised originally on YouTube in mid 2010s. The whole basis is a chosen group of people react to content they normally wouldn't watch. For example Elders React to Eminem, or Kids React to Linkin Park.

We are going to have millennial sit down and react to videos of ridiculous gen z moments, with gen z's being a very dramatic and interesting generation compared to those past.

On Tuesday I created a google drive document containing all our roles and information regarding the live show, so everyone cane on the same page, just incase some of us are or are not in. This is to ensure we also have a clear roadmap of goals to achieve to keep us on the right track.

Today (Friday) we as a group went around the college, asking people to react to a few videos of our choosing, that may provoke a reaction, as sort of 'mock' live show.

Today we created a roadmap of tasks to complete week by week to make the jobs easier to digest, and to ovoid overwhelming ourselves. This also co insides with a google doc I have created with all our roles, notes, guests and other relevant information.

Because of all the bus and train strikes recently, this allows those who are no in college able to continue working, and to allow those of us who are in college to know what that the absent person is on, etc keeping everyone on the same page

I spent the most of today catchup up on my website, updating and adding more information, in line with what we have done so far.  Aswell today I have invested about 2 hours into my Photography academy work, getting that also up to scratch and up to date waiting for the next assignment.

Today we met with a Berrys Coaches employee, Asher, for our courses work experience, he told us a s a team, he wanted to produce more marketing material for the brand, to use on their website and social media. They were also looking for a series of health and safety videos for they passengers they can play, to prepare them or an emergency.

Berry's Coach are also launching a new service, called 'Berrys Exclusive' which are tours around the UK, with onboard food and drink.

A few weeks ago,Berrys took guest to a local farm which offered a 'Haunted House' of sorts, experience of  the guests to experience.

And they're planning on a Christmas tour in Plymouth soon, taking guests to a Christmas market, and other festive experiences in the area.

We spent our Friday in the colleges TV Studio, familiarising ourselves with the cameras, equipment and the gallery.

We at first had some issues getting the talk backs to connect to the gallery though the right channels. We wanted the Camera operator (Me) and the Director (Maria) to be able to communicate, as well as having Poppy (Presenter) and Shannon to be able to talk, whilst having Maria also on their comms.

So the channels were divided into Channel A and Channel B. I was assigned Channel A, and muted the inputs from B, but had to set Poppy's mic, to channel B whilst muting Channel A. The issue came when we were in the gallery, making it so Maria could hear, myself and poppy, and talk to use both, however me and poppy could not hear each other (as we were both in the studio together). As well as making to so Shannon should only hear poppy and no one else. After 45 minutes of fiddling with different cables, dials and switches we finally mixed all the audio the way we had wanted.

We spent the next hour designing the set, and organising the cameras, where we had run into an issue, with the cameras outputs not displaying in the gallery, this is where Ed, had stepped in to help, he had figured out that in order for the gallery to receive footage, all the cameras settings must match perfectly.

After many hours of setting up the set, lighting and exposing the set and subject equally, we were finally ready for our test shoot. We had Ed, act as one of our guests temporarily, to act as a proof of concept. rather than a real shoot. This is when we had realised our concept for the live show was flawed, our idea was for Millennials to react to the ridiculousness of Gen Z culture and behaviour, however this is where we realised that it looked more live we were mocking Generation Z, and this was not our aim, so we opted to change our idea, to Millennials  reacting to Generation Z music, as music that's popular among our generation this year is very different to what Millennials grew up with through the 2000s

Today we found out we could not film the following Friday like we had hoped so we had to reschedule for the friday before our due deadline, monday.  I took this time in between to catch up on my other projects, and to finish creating my business cards.
