Research

REACTs main goal is to introduce two juxtaposing bodies, for example Elders react to Eminem. They introduce one demographic into another, this style of content quickly gave them an edge in a industry that rewards creativity also meaning they don't have much competition.

The REACT sets change depending on the group of people reacting - in the Elders React To Eminem video, the backdrop and monitor is reflective of the decor from their generation, so what would be considered 'old' floral wallpaper and a monitor resembling a CRT screen.

However in the video Teens React To Avril Lavinge  the set resembles for of a living room, featuring a bookshelf with a few potted plants and using a laptop to watch the videos.

We want to make a video, of Millennials music taste Vs Generation Z, in the early 2000s artists like Eminem, Linking Park, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and many more.

However the past 5 years has seen the rise of Artists such as Lil Peep, 6ix9ine, BTS, Juice WRLD, Billie Ellis, Cardy B and many others. React created a similar video (as mentioned previously),  of elders reacting to Eminem, some of which knew of the monumental rapper, however others stating their distaste for rap, or what he raps about.

Codes and Conventions in REACT videos

Codes: Each episode begins with a little preview of what's to come later in the episode. The episodes include a feed of what the reactionist is watching in the top right corner, throughout the videos, the editor will cut from one reactionist to another, however keeping consistency between the clips, typically all the cuts being at a similar point in the video than the last.

Convention The "reactionist" is typically positioned to the left of the frame, with a "prop" (such as a bookcase or potted plant) behind them and a desk with a laptop or monitor playing the video in front of them.

The sets frequently reflect the period in time that the reactionist would deem familiar.  In videos featuring the elderly, has a old 'floral' wallpaper,  whereas the kids react videos have a backdrop that looks like a play area, etc.

The reactionist is speaking to the presenter in every video, who will question them in response to what they have said.
